Why should we go along the Environmentally Friendly direction as outlined above?
· When garbage is properly disposed of as opposed to being illegally dumped, the negative implication of unfriendly environmental consequences diminishes. Provided that there exists an environmentally conscious waste disposal system, recycling of material would occur and this is a positive insinuation of green living and sustainability. When rubbish is dumped along the streets, in abandoned lands and in water courses , we are all affected not only be the eyesore it creates but also by effects such as flooding and property damage. It is recommended that the public dispose waste properly via municipal authorities or contracted waste disposal firms.
· Old appliances can be sold at scrap dealers and can salvage some cash for the owners. As opposed to illegal dumping, selling of these appliances that are sometimes stored at the house which become breeding grounds for mosquitos, rats and other rodents. It is advisable not to dump these appliances since many are built with poisonous chemicals and metals stored in their components. These hazardous elements once let loose into the natural ecosystem can destroy habitats. Also, when dumped these appliances can become blockages in water courses thus resulting in flooding and property damage. Think wisely, don’t dump, and recycle!
· Many persons have hazardous chemicals on their property that they are unaware of how to dispose of. Not enough knowledge can result in improper disposal of these substances thus resulting in unfriendly environmental activities. Chemicals such as motor oil and decomposing gardening fertilizer ( ammonia) are hazardous to human health and people need to know how to dispose of these substances. Relevant authorities and private firms engage in this type of disposal and their assistance should be sought. By doing that, you are engaging in an environmentally responsible solution.
· Lands are sometimes cleared and left to the elements. When lands are cleared, that in itself is an unfriendly environmental practice, worse it becomes when the land is exposed to wind and rain over time. As time elapses it erodes and can pose a threat to human existence. Surrounding homes are damaged not to mention that cleared land reduces oxygen generation and Co2 expansion. We need to stop clearing land unnecessarily and replant trees where applicable. That is a friendly environmental activity.
· Conventional filament light bulbs are 22 times less efficient as Light Emitting Diode bulbs. LED bulbs use 40 times less electricity as conventional filament bulbs. This product is certainly environmentally friendly as it uses less electricity which is often generated via improper manners. The use of LED bulbs is strictly endorsed as an environmentally friendly solution and should be utilized at a maximum within the home.

Put in reference to trees, that’s ½ tree per week or 2 trees per month per household. We need to slow down our use of paper within the household. Trees are the lungs of the ecosystem and if we damage the lungs, we are damaging the ecosystem. We need to go for green solutions to use as paper.
· Cleaning products when being purchased need to be looked at. Some products contain CFC’s which are dangerous to the environment but moreso the Ozone layer above. Continued use of such products would result in extensive damage to the layer and increased temperatures. It is advised that usage of such products be discontinued and replaced with more environmentally friendly products.
· In the home electricity is wasted. Since electricity is not generated by an environmentally friendly method in Trinidad, we need to look at our use. We need to cut down on improper usage and switch to more energy efficient appliances
· Appliances such as water heaters, air-conditioners and electricity generators can all be upgraded to more environmentally suitable and compatible measures. These models use less energy and are environmentally responsible. If we want to go green, this is a direction to pursue.
